How much does Hugo cost compared to Soapbox?  

Both Hugo and Soapbox are meeting management tools with similar costs.

Both meetings apps have free plans, although Soapbox’s free plan is more limited than Hugo’s.

Hugo starts at $6/user/month for their Pro plan. Soapbox starts at $7/month for their Pro plan. Soapbox also has a Business plan at $11/month with even more features. All of Hugo's features are included in its $6 Pro plan, making it $5/user/month cheaper than Soapbox.

Should I still use Soapbox if I switch to Hugo?

Unlike other notes apps like Evernote, Google Docs, and so forth, Soapbox doesn’t have enough to offer for it to make sense to use Soapbox and Hugo at the same time. Pick one app as your meeting management tool and stick with it. If you still need some of Soapbox’s other features around employee engagement, there are other tools dedicated to that problem that will serve you better.

How do the Hugo and Soapbox Chrome extensions compare?

Hugo and Soapbox have remarkably similar Chrome extensions in that both tools offer a micro-sized app experience right in your browser. In both cases, you can view, edit, and share meeting agendas and notes, and perform most of the other actions that you would do in the main app.

Having such a fully-functional Chrome experience is remarkably useful. Our favorite use cases are cutting/pasting data into a meeting agenda, or taking notes while on a meeting in a browser-based video conference like Google Meet. With the Hugo extension, any time something meetings-related pops into your head, just press ALT+H and jot it down.

Can you share Hugo notes with people who don’t use Hugo? What about Soapbox?

This is a pretty big difference in the apps. 

Soapbox users may invite external users into Soapbox, but these users have the same level of access to the platform as everyone else. They also count toward the active user count, which can increase costs, unless you’re on the Business tier, which is 57% more expensive per user but allows unlimited guests.

Hugo is much more geared to sharing without hitting you with additional costs. Hugo meeting agendas and notes can be shared on public pages (or kept private). Since Hugo connects to your calendar, the app knows who is invited to every meeting. This lets us surface smart suggestions for who to share with, so you don’t even need to type someone’s email address, for example.

Sharing meeting notes and agendas from Hugo has no impact on your costs. And if you decide to get advanced and create a shared “Space” for meeting notes with external collaborators, those guests don’t count toward your user count either. (Each email domain you share with is treated as its own organization with their own user count.)

Do Soapbox or Hugo support handwriting in meeting notes, for example, on an iPad?

At this time, neither app supports drawing or handwriting in notes. You can always attach files to your notes, however.

Absolutely. Hugo is the safest place for your meeting knowledge, with investments that support compliance with security protocols like Privacy Shield and SOC2.
